​Talkin Country - Talkin Health

Aboriginal people across Gamilaroi/Gomeroi Country share their stories of hearts, health,  history and hospitals.

FMS teamed up with the Heart Foundation, Lighthouse project and Tamworth Base Hospital to create video stories with rural and remote communities. Recounting stories of heart attacks and their treatment at hospitals, opens old wounds for some. Aunty Margaret tells of the mission days ‘Manager’s wife used to line us up, and I remember doctors with their big needles.’ The resulting stories, in turn, are powerful health promotion tools, as well as stories that bring the community together and help heal the past.
